On the meeting held on June 13, 2009, the Oromo Community Organization announced its work action approved by the Board of Directors (BOD) to the General Assembly (GA). The 2009 Work Action is anticipated to be completed between July 2009 and June 2010.

Projects:

All Oromos living in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area are invited to participate in the further development and implementation of the plan of action. Although it is launched recently, the response of Oromos in general, and of the youth in particular, in the implementation of the program is very encouraging.

The Oromo House: The vision of the Oromo Community House in Washington Metro Area that was initiated about ten years ago is now finally fulfilled. The facility is working to serve for the development of Oromo culture, language, encouragement of social cohesion in the community, and rendering rendezvous for all community members.

Many members of the Oromo Community supported the vision by contributing money, know-how, and time. The concerted efforts have now produced a result that we all can be proud of: Oromo Community House.  All who supported the project will be remembered by generations to come.  The Oromo Community Organization is very grateful for all the supports and encouragements.

The Oromo House is operational and started service for the community at large. The Grand Opening Ceremony was held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 6212 3rd Street N.W., Washington, DC 20011, the address of the new Oromo House.
